Joint Commission International grants Centers of Excellence certification to the 'Elderly Program with Hip Fracture' of Clinica Imbanaco Grupo Quirónsalud.

Press Release Santiago de Cali 07-27-2021

The Joint Commission International (JCI), the entity with the greatest experience and prestige in medical accreditation in the world, granted the Program for the Elderly with Hip Fracture of Clinica Imbanaco Grupo Quirónsalud, the Centers of Excellence certification, being one of the few with this seal of quality in Latin America, a distinction that reaffirms that our institution provides the best and most complete care for this age group.

The objective of achieving this recognition was set by our managers 3 years ago and today, after great efforts and hard teamwork, the expected results were obtained. “This is a guarantee for the patients and their families, Health Insurance Companies and the general population that we are highly specialized in the treatment of the elderly with hip fracture, which allows us to obtain the best clinical outcomes”, explains Dr. Rafael González, General Manager of the Clinica Imbanaco Grupo Quirónsalud.

One of our corporate values is excellence, therefore our goal is to work towards it, giving our patients the confidence that we work under the highest quality and safety standards to achieve the best results. Having an internationally certified clinical care center confirms our commitment to this value proposition and positions us as a regional, national and international benchmark for the comprehensive management of these patients.

In the case of the Program for the Elderly with Hip Fracture of the Clinica Imbanaco Grupo Quirónsalud, JCI “measured quality indicators throughout the process and evaluated the care and follow-up of each of the patients, evidencing that this is the result of a well-structured plan, which allows continuous improvement ”, says Dr. Alejandro De la Torre, scientific director of the Clinica Imbanaco Grupo Quirónsalud.

One of the fundamental points in obtaining the certification is the comprehensive management in the care of these patients, who undergo an assessment that includes Orthopedics, Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, Physiotherapy, Social Work, and Nutrition. In this regard, Dr. Mauricio Zuluaga, leader of our Program for the Elderly with Hip Fracture affirms “It must be clear that, in an elderly adult, a hip fracture without treatment and, even with medical treatment, the possibility of complications is very high. So the management by a multidisciplinary team, outpatient monitoring and the accompaniment of Registered and Assistant Nurses allows us to reduce complications”.

The accreditation of an institution is a voluntary process where the quality and performance of services are measured against certain standards that may be national or international. The JCI certification evaluates clinical programs that provide services for specific diseases or procedures, and the process to achieve it includes a thorough evaluation in which compliance with these standards is verified, in such a way that high-quality care is guaranteed.

“The stringency level is increasing and this always leads us to work with dedication. A few years ago when we started with the idea of what Clinica Imbanaco Grupo Quirónsalud is today, what we were looking for was to solve people’s problems, and today we have gone much further. New challenges are always emerging and we are ready to face them”, concluded manager Rafael González.
